Music & Learning to Code

We’re just getting through a pretty significant rain and wind storm and since I can work whenever I want and I mostly work outdoors I decided to stay home. Which has given me a lot of time to continue learning to code and listen to some music. It’s been nice, though I am itching to get back to work tomorrow if the weather is better.

On Thursday one of my favorite bands Linkin Park announced they were getting back together again 7 years after the death of their singer Chester Bennington with a livestream where they introduced their new singer. So I have been listening to their new song The Emptiness Machine as well as some of their old stuff. I’ll be honest I didn’t like the song much in the beginning but the more I listen to it the more I’m starting to love it. It’s different. But that’s what they are going for.

I am really happy that their new singer, Emily Armstrong, is female. Despite the the controversy surrounding it. I’m just happy they are back. She can’t replace Chester, and she’s not supposed to and I really admire the fact that they did not try and replace him, but to move forward in a way that will both honor him but also be something new and different.

As for the coding, listening to music just makes me happy and makes learning things much easier for me. Though I have never been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD I am sure it’s there. Concentrating on anything is next to impossible for me. Also, staying up all night overnight is new to me but I am trying to maximize the time Eddie and I have to spend together since my husband works overnight I am too. It only make sense to me to do it this way.

Plus I am more productive at the wee hours of the morning for some reason. I really love between 12pm and 6am. I love watching the sun come up, and then we sleep for about 7 or 8 hours and are up by 2 -3pm. It worked well over the summer, I’m not sure though how well it will work over the winter and if we are going to end up missing most of the day-light hours. Then again if we worked 9-5 we’d likely miss them anyways I guess. This way I can see the sun set and the sun rise both each day. That makes me happy.

I’m making some progress with the Responsive Web Design at freeCodeCamp and I’m really enjoying it. Hopefully it will be a good foundation. There is so much more on the site after that as well. Once I am completely done with freeCodeCamp I’m not sure where to go from there but at this pace it’ll be a while lol. I guess I’ll figure it out from there. I need to find a way to be able to do this from my car when I am sitting and waiting.

I’m going to get a keyboard case as soon as I can afford one for my iPad and see if I can do stuff from there. I really don’t know if I can but figure it’s worth a try. My laptop is too big and heavy to use in the car, especially when I would just pull it out only to have to put it back again. Frustrating but I am sure I will figure it all out.

  1. Music is always nice. I never got into that band myself, though my music taste is more on the odd side anyway. Cool they’re coming back though!

I used to be more into coding. It can be fun sometimes to do. Hope that continues to go well for you!
