Handwriting Practice, Planning, Journaling and Cross-Stitch

I’ve been on a kind of journey for the last few weeks. I have been learning to enjoy again the things I have always loved and stepped away from over the last few years. I have loved journaling and cross-stitching since I was a teenager. I used to sit on the couch in the evening after school and read a book, journal or cross-stitch. While I have not really dived back into reading I have started cross-stitching and journaling again. As well as planning and handwriting practice.

Above is a cross-stitch I am currently working on. It is this one from Craft With Cartwright. I am using a cheap kit that I got off Amazon so the colors are not exact but since it is one of the first ones that I have done in a long time I am not complaining. I just wanted to get myself started and to get some of the essentials I would need to get started. I plan to purchase better thread and aida cloth when the ones with the kit run out.

As I mentioned I am also practicing my handwriting as well. I decided on bible scripture or verses. I am not sure what the difference between a verse and scripture is so I am not sure if I am using the correct terminology. I choose the bible as I think it is beautiful and also because I have been more interested in religion lately, specifically Christianity but also just Spiritualism in general. Maybe I will learn something. I have been wanting to learn more about Christianity and God lately. I have never been overly religious but I find myself looking at the bible, scripture in general and finding things that stick out. Like Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 which has always stood out to me. I have no idea what my journey will look like or if there even will be one but I find myself also watching Christian content creators more often and reading blogs as well. I just don’t know where it fits in with my other beliefs.

I’ve been in my office on my computer more lately. I have been trying to get some projects that I have wanted to do off the ground for a few weeks now and so I am typing, mostly researching, things more often so I bought myself a present today. I got the cloud wrist rest set above to go with my keyboard (the purple one in the picture above this one which also has a matching mouse) since I am having issues with carpal tunnel. Originally I bought the keyboard, mouse and a curved monitor which I was going to connect to my laptop via a dock and just close up my laptop, but I quicky realized that having the second monitor from my laptop was handy. So I bought a USB speaker, a laptop cooling pad, a gaming chair and set up half of our office as a gaming/work area.

Actually I think I have spent a lot more on it then I realized until now! But I am pretty happy with it all. I started out wanting black and neon but somehow now pastel colors are creeping in as well such as the keyboard, mouse and my headphones which are all a pastel purple and now the cloud wrist rest set above which is pastel pink, purple, blue and white.

This is my next purchase I think sometime in the next month or so I want this mechanical keyboard. It’s a YUNZII B75 PRO Wireless Mechanical 75% Keyboard with a Cocoa Cream V2 Switch in purple. I don’t know a lot about mechanical keyboards but my boss at work has one she got for Christmas and I have used it and loved it. So I was going to get the same one but I like the colors on this one better. I know the different switches have a different sound and feel, but that is the extent of my knowledge. I can’t wait to learn more about them though.

I am sitting here typing this and listening to a Christian Lofi Playlist on YouTube. While also writing in my digital journal on my iPad. None of these links are affiliate links, just sharing the things I am using right now. Anyways, I am hoping to keep doing some of this stuff and build some habits over the next few months. I am also hoping to start using the gym either in our building or maybe joining the Canada Games Centre and getting a membership so we can use the pool as well. I’m hoping to just keep doing things like this in my spare time, especially since some of it we are on call and can’t go anywhere so I might as well be doing things I enjoy at home.

  • What I Hope To Achieve Through Journaling

Welcome to my blog. Journaling is something I’ve been doing ever since I was a child. I started out writing in a small journal that someone gave me, though I can’t quite remember why — maybe a birthday or Christmas? Either way, I’ve kept a journal ever since. Nothing fancy, just writing, since I’ve never been very artistic. Years later, I started blogging. This would have been in the early 2000s, when blogging was more personal. I’m hoping to use this blog to recapture that feeling for myself. As I mentioned above, I started out journaling in a small notebook I was given as a gift years ago. I remember filling that journal up and then going out to buy a new one. I think…

  • I Seriously Miss Old-School Blogging!

I have been trying really hard to find some blogs that would interest me but all I am finding is fake blogs or blogs completely written with AI. It’s getting really frustrating. I would love to find some blogs about lifestyle, self-care, mental health, cozy gaming, cozy hobbies and pretty much anything considered cozy. In the Cozy K or Her Cozy Gaming vibe. They each have blogs as well, Cozy K and Her Cozy Gaming. I am really enjoying both of their YouTube channels and blogs but I would like to find more like them and in the other categories I mentioned as well. Blogs that actually talk about peoples lives and show what they are up to. I think that’s on of the reasons…

  • Peggy’s Cove, Wildfires & Rain

As of today, the wildfire at Long Lake is 8,234 hectares and still growing. We got hit last weekend with an offshore hurricane. While we have had much, much worse hurricane-wise, this one was far enough offshore that we did not get any rain, but we got enough wind to double the size of the wildfire. Since then, we have had very little rain. We’ve had a little here in Halifax, but not enough in the Annapolis Valley where the fire is. There have now been houses lost as well, about 20 they are saying. I feel so bad for the people that have lost their houses. One couple is due to have their first baby in September. Since we are off this weekend, we…
