Happy New Year everyone 🙂 Ours was a bit low key thanks to me getting a migraine. After taking some medication I made it to midnight. Very glad to see 2020 over as I am sure most everyone was. I’ll do a post this week some time with my 2020 “recap”, it wasn’t all bad. One thing good about 2020 is I’ve started learning handlettering and calligraphy.
I spent weeks doing drills over and over again both with crayola markers (yes, you can do calligraphy with crayola markers) and on my tablet. I’ve been trying out a number of apps and found the Wacom Bamboo Paper app (need to purchase the pens) and Autodesk Sketchbook app are my favorites for practicing on the tablet. The sheets I am showing above and below are all tracing sheets that I traced digitally. They can be found at the Tombow link below or Liz on Call (the last one).
These are my lowercase alphabet practice after another few weeks on the brush alphabet. These practice sheets are from the Tombow USA website. I want to get some Tombow brush pens next.
Here are some word and phrases practice sheets I did. I am really loving it and want to start collecting some supplies such brush pens, calligraphy pens, fountain pens etc. Still learning actually about the types of brushes/pens and what you do with each. I love both traditional calligraphy with a dip or fountain pen which I used to do when I was younger and modern calligraphy with brush pens and watercolor brushes, etc., as well as digital. I also love handlettering in which you “draw” the letters. Again, still working on learning the differences.
I love letters and words and art made with words and I want 2021 to be a year I continue to branch out creatively and discover where my likes and talents lie. I have plans on turning either our spare room or part of our laundry room area into a office/art room. We are starting on the spare room tomorrow.
How fun and absolutely beautiful! It’s fun to find new hobbies and skills in the new year! Happy new year!
Happy New Year to you too! I am loving lettering of all kinds. It’s so much fun!
