I hope everyone had a good Christmas or holiday. Eddie and I initially had plans to go to the city (Halifax) for Christmas to be with his parents, brother and sister, and some of our nieces for Christmas. We usually try to alternate, but due to Covid cases in the city that ended up not being an option this year. So we went to mom and dads instead again.
Mom had spent most of the months up to christmas making the decorations on the tree. She decided she wanted only hand made ornaments this year. I planed to help make some but with school and being sick a lot that didn’t happen either. I actually have been quite a bit more depressed than normal this year leading up to Christmas. I think a combo of Covid, chronic pain and POTS symptoms most likely. Honestly I was over Christmas before it even got near. That being said, I ended up having a wonderful time at mom and dads, we all did.
Before Christmas I started getting into learning a bit about hand lettering and calligraphy and have been practicing some over the Christmas break. Doodling too. Tonight I took a bullet journal that I got from the dollar store that bleeds through and turned it into a hand lettering and doodling journal. I realized it doesn’t bleed through as much as I thought. So I am going to use it for practice (so far I have been doing most of my practice on my tablet) and to see how for I’ve come in 6 months or a year or so or however long it lasts. I’m really enjoying hand lettering.
Here is my first page:
This is the journal, it’s from Dollarama. I’ll definitely be investing in better ones:
Here is the sketch of the page before I used the pens:
And lastly, the pens. They are papermate flairs. The medium ones are better for the hand lettering and/or the faux calligraphy:
I plan to turn this blog more into a creative blog with journaling, illustrating, art, drawing, doodling, etc eventually.
This is beautiful! I love the idea of bullet journaling but I’m just not good at drawing, nice handwriting and such. I’m going to try to do some journaling in an ipad app instead.
Glad you had a good Christmas – I didn’t have much interest in this Christmas either but ended up having a wonderful Christmas Eve and two very relaxing days after.
Honestly I can’t draw and my handwriting is atrotious but this is something I have always been interested in. I read that learning hand lettering and calligraphy will actually improve your printing and cursive writing. As for doodling I’m finding it a bit daunting but there are so many tutorials and blogs and it’s easier then actually drawing. I’m glad you ended up having a wonderful Christmas was well <3
I’ve heard of Bullet journals but never attempted them. I might one day, but I wanna say to you, Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Thanks Michelle! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too. I still haven’t started a bullet journal yet but still really want to.
Bullet journals are so much fun! The ideas are endless, and this is so pretty! I’m glad you had a nice Christmas, we had a lovely holiday here as well. 🙂
I love the idea of starting an actual bullet journal, I just don’t know where to begin. I hate the idea of messing it up because I am very particular. Eventually I will start one.
