Spring Has Sprung!

It is officially spring in Nova Scotia. We have had a number of really beautiful days over the last few weeks. Not this past weekend but the one before we met my parents in Liverpool and went for a walk through this beautiful garden that is there and then for a drive. The garden is called Cosby’s Garden Centre and it has these absolutely amazing concreate sculptures made by local artist Ivan Higgins. This one below is my favorite.

It goes back quite a ways. I am not sure how far exactly but it would take a good hour, maybe more to walk all the way through and my mom who has been there before said there is always more every time she goes. Though I said the one above was my favorite I will add a few more into the post. This little hut below was so cool and I did not even see the sculpture perched atop it at first.

We had a great time and it was good to see my father get out and walk around. There was so much to see and it was such a beautiful sunny day. It was warm enough for a t-shirt and shorts but not so warm that it was hard to walk around. Since then more has started blooming but it was still really pretty and serene.

I love anything serene and fairy tale related and I am a sucker for dragons. This one was really detailed with scales and everything! I was so impressed. I definitely want to go back when everything is in full-bloom as the gardens have all kinds of flowers and other plants as well.

We went around and up a hill and found this guy staring down at us in the image below. My dad was getting tired by then so mom and him had started back. Excuse my grammar but this is just a personal blog so I don’t really care. It’s more just for documenting what I do each week or that is what I am hoping it will be. Somewhere to record us getting out on our days off and exploring. I only have a cell phone camera and not a good one at that right now, so the picture quality is not that great, but maybe a more expensive camera is in order down the road. I don’t even know if my old Canon T3i works, but I found it the other day so I will have to charge that and see.

This got me thinking though that I want some greenery around me in our apartment. So I purchased my very first plant every. Or at least I think it is. I don’t remember ever having another plant. This one is a Maranta Prayer Plant according to the little card in it. I got it home, gave it a little bit of water and put it on top our TV stand. I googled it and it says it is non-toxic to cats, which is the most important thing. I would love some more but they have to be okay to have around my boys.

Today we got out as well for a drive all around Dartmouth and Halifax Downtown and then into Purcell’s Cove and Spryfield. I did not take any pictures but that was mostly because I was concentrating on just driving and relaxing. I took Edward to a parking lot to get used to our new car. We got a 2024 Nissan Kicks SV to replace “Betty White” our white 2019 Hyundai Elantra GT that we have had for 6 years. We named the Nissan “Stevie Kicks”, she is a bluish grey in color. I can’t remember the exact name.

Other then that not much has happened. Well, actually it has! We moved, a month ago just down the road to another building. We took on more responsibility and I am now in the office full-time. It was a bit rough at first, but I am starting to really like and enjoy it. Not to say that I didn’t enjoy cleaning, I did, and still do, but I have always loved admin work and office work. So I think eventually I will feel a bit more at home.

  • My Beautiful Province Is On Fire, Again

On Tuesday a wildfire broke out not too far from where we live, less then 3km “as the crow flies”. The fire, in the Bayer’s Lake Business Park and shopping district at Susie’s Lake, Nova Scotia (NS) was just a little too close to home for comfort. I was at a nearby building for work, which was higher up and with a better vantage point of the fire so I was keeping my husband updated as he was a bit closer to the fire at our buildings. We were close enough that we had ash falling on us and thick smoke. To say it was unnerving is an understatement. I think we both felt on edge right into the night. Luckily they attacked the fire…
