York Redoubt and Life Updates
I moved my computer out of the den today and into the second bedroom. Our den does not have a window and it was depressing in there. I did not want to be in there on the computer. So I though moving it to a bigger room with a window, lots of natural sunlight and the option for fresh air as well as a pull-out couch my husband can lay on might entice me to go on my computer more and get back into some of the things I have been missing such as blogging, looking at hand lettering related things on Pinterest and working on the printing practice workbook I started months ago. Things that I have always enjoyed and that help improve my mood.
I am also struggling a lot with work/life balance so I have convinced Edward that since there are some days we are literally stuck in our building day and night as assistant resident managers who are on call that on our days off we need to get out of the house completely and explore. So this past Thursday we did a nice loop drive from the rotary through Purcell’s Cove out around Sambro and back to the rotary. We stopped at York Redoubt National Historic Site and I took some pictures. We also took a short walk on the hiking trails at Crystal Crescent Beach but for some reason I did not take any pictures there.
I am hoping to get out more this summer than we did last summer and I am already feeling a bit behind as it is already the end of June. I just need to plan it a bit better. One of the reasons I wanted to move the computer is that if I am spending more time on it I can start researching some places I would like us to go. We both love walking and hiking. Since we are pretty much stuck within 2 hours of Halifax because we need to be home each night to feed the cats we can really only do day trips. I would love to hit up some more historic sites, trails, waterfalls and parks. We bought a volleyball and a badminton racket set as there are parks nearby. Actually there is a pickleball court that I can see from the end of our apartment buildings driveway and trailheads nearby.
Since we enjoy geocaching as well I was thinking of just collecting drives, trails, waterfalls, museums etc., similar to the way you would collect geocaches. Not sure if there is an app for that but I know there are separate apps we can do that kind of thing in. Just get out and explore our beautiful province since I am itching to get away and go traveling but can’t we might as well make the best of day trips.
On the days we are stuck at home then I will make use of that for blogging and uploading pictures I take and working on some ways to make some extra money. I bought some supplies to make notepads and I can make some digital downloads like printing and handwriting workbooks and maybe even some affiliate links if I can find some fun and interesting things to blog about that fit. I guess we’ll just see how it goes. I think it’s really important to make the best of everything. My mental health has been okay but I can see it slipping if we don’t find some kind of good work/life balance.
